This year, we are launching the fourth watch of our Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition series as a part of our long-standing commitment to the Australian Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest reef system.
Oris partnered with the Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) for the 2010 and 2016 editions. AMCS, Australia’s top charity for ocean protection, spearheaded projects, government initiatives, and new laws to preserve unique marine ecosystems.
In 2019, Oris partnered with the Reef Restoration Foundation to launch the Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition III. Based in Queensland, this non-profit developed coral-tree systems to restore reefs impacted by pollution and climate change, critical issues affecting the reef's sensitive coral species
The Reef Restoration Foundation works against this by growing more robust types of corals in order to recreate ecosystems that are then also able to support more sensitive types of corals again.
Being part of a global network of scientists, the Reef Restoration Foundation also is in contact with Oris’ partners in the USA, the Coral Restoration Foundation, to share results and learn from each other’s projects. Oris has been working with the Coral Restoration Foundation since 2017 and has launched three limited editions to support their coral reforestation work in the meantime, namely the Staghorn Limited Edition as well as two Carysfort Reef Limited Editions.
Launching in 2024, the fourth Limited Edition continues Oris' Great Barrier Reef series, a cornerstone of their 'Change for the Better' initiative, dedicated to protecting endangered marine ecosystems globally.
